These cut-paper pieces were made in response to an explosive boom in population where I live that resulted in an increase in expensive, high-density housing and the gentrification of pre-existing dwellings. As a result, open spaces and areas that previously had affordable homes underwent development which lead in fewer living spaces for native populations (both human and animal).
